I think the biggest issue for most people is time. Face to face networking is priceless in the connections you can make and the relationships you can build with others. There is no replacement.
But with today's social media options, many new small business owners and entrepreneurs can start their networking online. They can build up good relationships, then meet up with others face to face.
Or they can build relationships with people around the world that they will never meet in person. That's really the beauty of the power of the internet for small business.
One of the best places to start (besides here on MYOB!) is to set up a twitter profile, start following a few people and participating in discussions.
