Gee! I haven't gone fishing in a LONG time!

As I remember it, spin casting usually meant having a closed reel on your fishing pole that had a button on it to lock and release the line. You'd press the button on your backcast, and release it in the middle of your forward cast. Releasing the button would unlock the line, allowing the weight of your lure to pull out the line.

This is different from fly casting, where the lure is too light to pull out the line.

Did you mean to use "spin casting" in a context not related to fishing?
